Tools and Guidance for Integrated District-Level Energy Planning
This is a webinar series from the AREA 21 project. AREA 21 is a three-year transnational cooperation project that is jointly carried out by 10 partner organisations from the Baltic Sea Region. The project seeks to model energy efficient urban areas of the future, adopting collaborative stakeholder engagement processes in the strategic planning and implementation of energy solutions. Main Output of the project is the Energy Improvement District (EID) concept. It is an instrument for cooperative energy planning at the district level targeting to unlock the energy efficiency potential in the existing building stock. The EID concept can be used as frame for stakeholders in the energy and buildings sector (e.g. municipalities/public administrations, energy utilities, energy agencies, housing associations or property owners) to improve the rehabilitation of existing urban areas.
In the webinars, we will present the Energy Improvement Districts: An Instrument for Local Cooperation on Energy Efficiency (01 September 2020), Strategic Energy Planning in Urban Districts from a Policy Perspective (08 September 2020), and Developing ICT Tools for District-Scale Smart Energy Management (15 September 2020).
If you want to learn more about AREA 21, the Energy Improvement District concept and why the neighbourhood level matters in energy planning, check the video below.
Our “EID Tour” gives insight into the practical implementation of the concept. You will find short descriptions of our EID partners and their benefits from collaborative energy planning.
