You are interested in new approaches to cooperative district-level energy planning? You want to learn more about how policies could be improved to foster the local energy transition? AREA 21 offers you the unique chance to gain new insights and exchange with international energy experts in beautiful St. Petersburg.
This year, AREA 21 chairs a transnational workshop within the Forum. Co-organised by HafenCity University Hamburg (Germany) and Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University (Russia), the workshop will investigate the potentials and barriers for strategic energy planning in urban districts. It will include an opening keynote speech by Kaisa-Reeta Koskiinen from the City of Helsinki about local approaches to energy transition in the context of climate change. Thereafter, the workshop will explore the perspectives and involvement of local governments, building managers and energy end-users in energy planning processes A series of contributions by the EU-financed projects ActNOW, Effect4Buildings and eTEACHER will demonstrate good practice examples and approaches, which promote energy efficiency in the building stock. The second part of the workshop will include a panel discussion, during which the aforementioned representatives and additional guests will explore current policy challenges and desired policy changes to foster the energy transition in European cities.
