Our partner, the Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University, participated in the “17th Annual Strategic Planning Leaders Forum of the Regions and Cities of Russia”. The event  was scheduled for 22 and 23 October in St. Petersburg and included a presentation of AREA 21 as one of the Interreg Baltic Sea Region projects that successfully integrate partners from the Russian Federation.

Prof. Yury Nurulin, Head of the AREA 21 team at Polytechnic, gave an overview of the project and its results during the first year. These results were further discussed during the panel session “Innovative, accessible and sustainable Baltic Sea Region: Russia-EU macro-regional cooperation stakeholders”, which was organised by the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation, the Interreg Baltic Sea Region Programme, the Committee for External Relations of St. Petersburg, the EUSBSR Horizontal Action “Neighbours” as well as the ICSER Leontief Centre.

Since 2002, the Strategic Planning Leaders Forum brought together over 1.000 participants every year. Further information on the panel session (including the AREA 21 presentation as download) is available at the website of the Forum.
