Experts from the city administration and municipal companies of Lublin are joining efforts to assess, manage and improve the energy efficiency in the city. The specially established interdisciplinary team kicked-off their work on 25th September 2018. The event marked the beginning of a four-year cooperation process, which will result in a European Energy Award certificate.
The kick-off meeting took place in the headquarters of the Public Transport Authority in Lublin (ZTM). ZTM is an important stakeholder in the certification process. It supports the transformation of the public transport system in Lublin and the establishment of environmentally-friendly standards in the city.
The certification process will be moderated by an EEA advisor, who will monitor and facilitate the achievement of the set objectives. The progress of Lublin will be then assessed by external auditors, who will decide on the level of certification.
The meetings of the interdisciplinary team and their work towards the acquisition of the EEA certificate will be a great support for the implementation of the Sustainable Energy Action Plan (SEAP) of Lublin. Additionally, the experiences gathered from the cooperation with the different stakeholders will help the City of Lublin to establish “Energy Improvement” goals for the Wieniawa district – a pilot area in the AREA 21 project.
Lublin is privileged and eager to gain knowledge, capacity, experience and a certified tool, which enables the assessment of the energy efficiency potentials of cities and thus supports the fulfilment of European climate policy goals.
